Keeping Up with the Keeping Up

This week has been a non-stop week.  I had 2 overtime days, working 11 hour shifts, followed by 3 normal shifts that were crammed with non-stop issues to deal with.  My job is fast paced and often filled with problems to solve, and on occasion, challenges to overcome.  Despite this, the hubs and I worked out 6 days this week between the gym (4x) and walking laps at the mall (2x). For the month of March, we managed to work out 27 days of 31.  My fitness goals for April are to workout 5-6 days per week, lose 5 lbs and to focus more on strength.  In addition to that, I want to hit platinum status on my Go365 health plan.  During March, I kept bouncing between up and down 5 lbs, but finally managed to be 4 lbs down by the end of the month. My financial goals for April are to cover my 1st qtr taxes, which I am set to do this coming week.  I also want to pay off the remaining $130 balance of our JCP card.  This weekend, I put $30 toward that.  I am continuing to work some of my side

Anniversary Week

This past week was such a lighter week workwise, but I was very busy at home.  I usually spend my weekends playing catch up, running errands, working out, taking teens to jobs and running out for coffee and groceries.  This weekend was no exception. Added to all the normal stuff, I found an error in my pay slip, received a cell phone bill over double what we expected when we upgraded 4 phones this month and one of my teens may have lost his local job.  Things happen.  I am not stressing over it. In the past, this would have been a freak out.  Now, I am learning to deal. I corrected my pay, and I will see it next payday.  I reviewed my phone bill and discovered 4 errors and the phone company corrected it today. As for my teen, he is going to either hope he still can get back on the schedule or he is going to have to find another job.  That falls on his shoulders to work out. My youngest daughter and I have posted all of her clothes online finally.  We are using Mercari and FB.

Spring Forward

March is already half way over!  This month has been bouncing back and forth between Winter and Spring.  Today, it is finally warm enough for me to open some windows and let some air circulate through the house.  One of the benefits of living enough in the country.  I have seen robins starting to make an appearance in the yard.  This makes me hopeful that Spring weather should be coming in soon.   I have been working out this week very consistently.  My back is finally on the mend.  I am happy that I have been able to work out for the most part without pain.  I enjoy going to the gym with the hubs, and I admit, seeing him get all hot and sweaty.  This week my focus has been on consistency.  Getting into a solid routine, focus on cardio, using the hydro bed for sore muscles, incorporating massage.  My focus this week is to track my meals on My Fitness Pal  and incorporate more strength building into my day.  One of my hardest obstacles is that I sit for the majority of my work da

Life Happens 10%

I heard a really great quote today:  "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you respond to it."   Check out this amazing 90 /10 Video.   It really gave me a positive boost! This is my theme for the week.  I cannot always control what happens to me, but I am learning how not to immediately panic, make bad decisions or give up.  Focus on the 90%. Things will happen. You throw you back out after planning out your work outs.  You file taxes and discover you owe money.  A child gets the flu when your insurance deductible just started over.  You get a flat tire.  These things will happen.  Sometimes, it will happen at the worst time.   While this song is about a break up, "I will survive" is my motto today.   I have learned to not panic when these things happen.  It was not an easy road to get to this point.  After so many unexpected things to crop up, I have learned over time, the more I try to jump in and fix it immediately, the worse it costs me in the l

Music To My Ears

I had all these goals this week to be more active: hit the gym, tackle more stuff around the house, accomplish more physically.  Then I lifted a laundry hamper and threw my back out.  It is an old auto accident injury that flares up at the most inconvenient times.  Yesterday, instead of hitting the gym, I finished the evening by walking laps at the mall before they closed when it was quiet.  Then completed my evening with a quick massage.  My back is still really sore today.  Instead of letting it get to me, I am focusing on what I can do.  As long as I am moving forward, I am progressing.  The hubs and I ended up walking laps around the mall again. My goals for this week are to sign up for more learning opportunities.  I am signing up for technical classes to refresh my experience in Excel and Access. I have also signed up for a nutrition class as well as a wellness class.  I really want to use 2019 as a growth year: mentally, physically, spiritually, in wellness and professio

Manic Mondays

I am so very happy.  My schedule has changed, freeing up my morning time.  I now have time to work out in the mornings.  This morning, my husband and I were able to go to the gym together. I love Mondays.  My husband has Mondays off, which is typically my busiest work day.  He covers laundry, dishes, makes dinner and runs errands for me. Tonight he is roasting chicken and veggies  I feel so blessed and thankful. My goals this week are to get back into a regular work out schedule.  I have skipped work outs a lot with my old schedule and overtime .  Now that I have the time, I want to re-establish a workout routine. I also want to get back into using My Fitness Pal to track my meals, instead of just winging it.  I am going to get to bed earlier Monday-Friday .  In addition, I want to ensure that I am regsularly taking my supplements. I am also looking forward to catching up on my reading.  I have 5 books checked out from the library to read, plus 2 more I picked up o

Make Your Mission

This week has been really eye opening for me.  A lot of people think of think of happiness as a destination, a milestone to someday be reached.  Or worse, think they will be happy if only they reach this.  Then they arrive at that moment or achieve the item or the job they wanted only to find there is no happiness to be found.  So they set the next goal thinking, "Okay, I will be happy if I get this next thing or achieve this because I had it wrong last time." My happiness is in daily things.  Spending time with my husband. Reading. Cleaning and organizing my office space, or my bedroom.  Cooking meals for my family.  Finding inspirational visuals or reading something inspiring.  I love travel, reading, sight seeing, going to intimate places to listen to music, having coffee and reading. I love, love reading. I don't always have the budget for going out and traveling.  Nor the time, with having a large family and work and responsibilities. My latest thing that
